A letter from our Managing Partner, John E. Matthews
Throughout this website you will find many reasons to choose Deemer Dana & Froehle for your business needs. What you will not find and what I would like to share with you is the overriding reason to choose our firm and that is – what we truly believe.
As our mission statement states, our goal is to “create value in each relationship.” These relationships include our clients, our team members, our vendors and our community. In all these interactions, we strive to have people walk away believing they received value from us.
Our Clients
We believe that our clients should feel that the value we provide equals or exceeds our charge to provide it. With each new client opportunity we actively take the time to talk with that potential client to determine their needs and customize our services to best suit those needs, all with the goal of providing value. Every year we evaluate our ongoing relationships to ensure that we are continually creating value in every client relationship.
In addition, during 2007 our firm instituted a work/life balance initiative (see below under our team members) for all our staff. The result of this initiative is that on average our team members work 200-300 fewer hours per year than their counterparts in other firms. What this has meant for our clients is that they are served by team members who feel valued by our firm - and this has allowed them more flexibility in creating value for you.
Our Team Members
Where most CPA firms are structured where their team members provide a wide range of services for different types of clients (audit, tax, small business, etc.). Our vision is for our team members to specialize by service offering and industry. Early in their careers at the firm, our team members are able to choose their specialty and service area, allowing them the freedom to create their own career path. Through hands-on experience and coaching, our team members are able to mature professionally at an accelerated rate. In the complex business environment of today we believe we can create more value for everyone by allowing our team members to focus intensely in one specific area.
With our adoption of our work/life balance, we have created a workplace like no other in our profession. As stated above, our team members work an average of 200-300 hours less every year than the traditional CPA firm setting. This provides them more time with their families, the community and to hone their professional skills. We believe that the team members who feel valued will create value for others.
Our Vendors
We value our vendors because they help us create value for our clients and team members. We treat our vendors the way we want to be treated. We refer them to others who will benefit as we do from their products and services. We also pay them timely for these products and services. What we have learned by doing this is that when, in the rare occasions, we need special attention, they are always responsive helping us create even more value for our clients and team members.
Our Community
We believe it is very important for our team members to be involved in their community. While you will see many stories of how our firm contributes to the community, we are even more proud of the quiet ways in which our individual team members are contributing in their areas of passion.
As you can see our Mission Statement is more than a catchy phrase. It embodies the very essence of our firm and what we believe to be important.
