Deemer Dana & Froehle LLP was formed on January 1, 2008, through the merger of two Georgia accounting firms – Lazard Dana LLP, based in Savannah and Deemer Davidson Prather PC, located in the Atlanta metro area. Richard G. Deemer founded what was to become Deemer Davidson Prather P.C. in 1972 after spending five years with a national accounting firm. Janet L. Prather joined the partnership in 1993 and along with Mary Davidson, who recently retired, continued to grow the business concentrating on serving the engineering and architectural industries as well as small business.
Lazard Dana LLP had its beginnings in 1948 when Bernard Lazard opened his accounting practice in Savannah after many years of practicing in New York City. In 1960, his son, Richard Lazard, joined the practice, and in 1963, Edmund Curlee joined the firm, beginning the partnership. Later, the addition of William O. Johnson as Audit and Accounting Partner in 1978 and John E. Matthews as Partner in 1985 further reinforced the firm’s growing status as the area’s leader in public accounting services.
Arthur Dana & Company, P.C. was formed on August 1, 1999, by Arthur Dana, John Vandaveer, and Kenneth Wood, three certified public accountants with big firm experience and long tenures serving the Savannah financial community. Pamela O’Quinn, a CPA with a successful local practice on Wilmington Island, joined Arthur Dana & Company, P.C. as an Owner in 2001.
Lazard Dana LLP continued its growth with the merger of Froehle & Co. Inc., P.C. in August 2005. This firm was founded in 1977 by Jeff Froehle and Robert “Bob” Snapp, who has since retired, in Franklin, Ohio. Although a full-service public accounting firm with local clients ranging from individuals to mid-size corporations, Froehle & Co., Inc., P.C. focused on serving the private career school industry. The result has been the accumulation of more than 26 years of performing government audits for over 120 private colleges and trade schools across the nation.
Today Deemer Dana & Froehle LLP is one of the largest local firms in Savannah providing traditional certified public accounting services to clients in a wide array of industries including post secondary schools, architects, engineers and contractors, employee benefit plan audits, not-for-profit, retail & service companies, wholesale distribution, and foreign business. Our Atlanta Office provides a full range of accounting services as well to the metro Atlanta area.
