Why Hollywood Loves to be On Location in Georgia
From mountain vistas to tranquil beaches, from charming small towns to vibrant city streets, Georgia has always had a lot to offer to production companies. With the 2008 passing of the Georgia Entertainment Industry Investment Act, the state has even more to offer — generous financial benefits to companies that choose Georgia for their motion picture, television, commercial, music video, video game, and animation projects.
With a minimum investment of $500,000 on qualified production and post-production expenditures, production companies can get a tax credit of 20 percent. The minimum investment may be through one or multiple projects. Georgia offers an additional 10 percent uplift for qualified projects that include a Georgia promotional logo. Plus, Georgia’s Sales and Use Tax Exemption also gives production companies a savings of up to 8 percent at the point of purchase for most goods and rentals.
